Flower Field Farmers' Market: July 27, 2024
This past Saturday marked our first Flower Field Farmers' Market of the season, and we are so grateful for the support from everyone who spent their morning in the flower field.
With several inches of rain earlier in the week, there was a point where it seemed that the market would be canceled altogether... Even during setup, when multiple vendor vehicles had to be pulled out from the mud, things seemed questionable.
But, we carried on, and even in the muddy conditions, the flower field was full of so much joy on Saturday morning!
Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck, from Greenville, NC, parked flower field side to serve up some incredible drinks, and even tunes. The field was abuzz with all of the great things people had to say about their orders!
On the booth vendor side of the flower field, we had the sweetest peaches available from Ambrose Farm. Established in 1909, Gaylon Ambrose continues to steward the farm where he was raised, offering seasonal peaches and pecans.
With a little creativity, all of the baked goods sold this weekend included these sweet peaches in their recipes! From peach lavender to upside-down peach cakes, each treat was seasonally inspired.
Alongside the peaches, veteran vendor, Ashley Cartledge, returned to the flower field this season to share so many thoughtfully designed pieces.
Her business, Cartledge Crafts, offered everyone one-of-a-kind designs from stationery to cute coffee mugs! One of our very favorite coffee mugs is one that we purchased from her last season.
What started as a muddy morning turned into a sweet day in the flower field with visitors able to shop with local vendors, sip coffee, and pick their own flowers to take home.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the flower field this past Saturday. We couldn't have asked for a more memorable first market day of the season, and we are looking forward to the remaining Flower Field Farmers' Market dates!
